Brouwerij Timmermans

Description

foto brouwerij TimmermansThe Timmermans brewery was established in 1781 and still operates from the same premises. At that time it was not only a brewery but also a farm, a fruit grower, a café and a malt-house. The local records for 1814 show that a man named Jacobus Walravens produced batches of 15 hl (hectolitres) in that brewery, which was called «Brouwerij De Mol » at the time. At the beginning of the 20th century, the 6th generation (i.e. Paul Van Cutsem, son-in-law of Frans Timmermans) decided to change the brewery's name to “Brouwerij Timmermans”.

In 1993 the brewery joined the family business “John Martin N.V.”. The expertise from many generations of brewers combined with the commercial know-how of this family-owned concern (established in 1909) ensures that the brewery is able to brew no less than 18,000 hectolitres of Lambic beer these days (of which 40% is exported, not only to most of the European countries but also to other continents).

Beers

Gueuze-Caveau (5.5% alc. content ): a blend of young and old Lambic beers, bottle-fermented.

Gueuze-Lambic (5 % alc. content): a filtered blend of young and old Lambic beers, lightly sweetened.

Kriek Lambic (5 % alc. content) : the brewery uses a 100 kg of Morello cherries for each 650 litres of this Lambic beer. The cherries are left to soak in the Lambic beer for at least 9 months. A process that still takes place in oak casks.

Lambicus-Blanche (4.5% alc. content): a unique white beer on the basis of Lambic beer to which coriander, Curaçao,…. are added.

Faro-Lambic (4% alc. content) is a Lambic beer to which extra sugar has been added.

Kriek–Lambic (4% alc. content): based on a traditional cherry beer ("kriek") to which extra cherry juice and sugar have been added.

Framboise & Pêche Lambic (4% alc. content): these beers are made with 100%-pure fruit juice (raspberry and peach respectively) and, as always, on the basis of Lambic beer.

Woudvruchten (4% alc. content): a Lambic beer with a delicious taste of forest fruits.
