Brouwerij Nieuwhuys

Description

Foto brouwerij NieuwhuysJust when it looked like Hoegaarden was ready to say goodbye to its beer traditions in light of the move of the typical "witbier", a new alternative saw the light of day. Jan and Mieke set up a boutique brewery in their pub called "Nieuwhuys". And that is where they came up with "Alpaïde", a dark ale of 9° that proved to be very popular. Despite their success, these brewers didn't sit around doing nothing. They created a second beer in the mean time, called "Rosdel", which is a blond ale.

Alpaïde: The name refers to the countess Alpaïde who reigned over the county of Bruningerode in the early Middle Ages and who established a chapter of canons in Huardis (Hoegaarden). This chapter developed into the beer village of Hoegaarden. These days the name Alpaïde refers to a dark triple stout, full of spirit and tradition...
