Enjoy the ‘Best of beer in Flanders’
Angerik is a boutique brewery that was established by Erik Decuyper in 1997. It only produces top-fermenting beers. Just like the old breweries of bygone days, the brewery makes use of gravity to produce its ales. Brew kettle, conditioning tank, etc. all pieces of equipment are placed one above the other, no pumps required. Only Belgian hops from Erembodegem and Belgian malt are used in the process. Spices such as coriander are added to produce the "Boerke Amber" ale. "Boerke Donker", its dark-coloured counterpart, gets its distinctive flavour from roasted malt. Each batch of ale contains 10 hectolitres (1,000 litres). The cherry variety of the beer ("het krieken boerke") is brewed once or twice a year, depending on the cherry harvest. The brewery uses local cherries from Schaarbeek, straight from the brewer's orchard. Only a limited quantity of this beer is produced.
