The 'Hops Devil" or 'Hopduvel' symbolizes the storm which seriously damaged the numerous hops fields in the region of Asse-Ternat. De Hopduvel has become a notion among local civilians, and was invented by the hops farmers and symbolized by the religious father of the Hops Devil festivities. These festivities were organized to celebrate the burning of the hops devil after the harvest.
