Somewhere around the year 1850 a small and simple farmstead was built on the banks of the river Scheldt in Meilegem. Many generations later its old stables, worn and buckling under the centuries-old burden, were waiting and hoping for a new lease of life. The old outbuilding was fully restored in 2006 and transformed into a small-scale guest house, equipped with all modern comforts but true to the traditional and original architecture. Riverside Guesthouse lies hidden amidst the rolling hillside of the Flemish Ardennes, on the bank of a blind arm of the river Scheldt and its neighbouring nature reserve. An oasis of peace and tranquillity only a stone's throw away from many historic cities such as Oudenaarde, Ghent, Bruges, Brussels, etc. Come and enjoy life in the traditional Flemish and slightly exuberant "carpe diem" (seize the day) fashion, interlaced with some sun-drenched South-African hospitality. Walking, cycling, lounging about or casting out a fishing line... Whatever takes your fancy!
